Last Minute Christmas Ideas

TttIf you are still unsure on what to get that special person in your life why not do something a bit different.

It is tradition in my family to buy a Tarramundi for your loved ones and they save all their sparkly pennies until it is full to the brim. Once the money goes in there is no where to get it out so the idea is once it is full, smash it open and spend the money on good things. They come in lovely colours and look great in any room!

Great idea, my nany has just given me a Tarramundi for a Wedding present and it was FULL!!!

It had £550 so Craig and I are going to Rome in January. :)

Waxing - A Man’s View

Craig (a Truly Scrumptious client) wrote a man’s perspective of back waxing having become converted to the treatment during the year:

As an adult, I’ve always had these two clusps of hair on the tops of my shoulder blades. I wouldn’t call myself vain but I think they look a bit silly. Here am I, meant to be a manly man and I can’t even grow body hair properly. As I have got older they have also got bushier.

I would always embrace beauty treatments, like waxing, for men and today it seems to be a lot more acceptable than say 10 years ago. Besides, I am now that sort of age where I don’t care so much what people think.

My friend has his back waxed so I went with him and I must admit it looked agony, but he is a lot hairier than I am so I thought I’d give back waxing a go, rather than try and clipper it off in the mirror, missing bits along the way and looking even sillier.

The first time was the hardest. Apparently the hair is thicker because it has been growing pretty much all your adult life (20 years for me - I am 35). Mans Back Waxing

After taking my top off and lying on the bed, they told me what would happen and then rushed straight in spreading warm wax across sections of my back with a small spreader. This is obviously the wax. Then a strip of cloth is pressed down and then ‘ripped’ off. I found the quicker it was done the better.

The first time was very hard, especially around tender areas and fleshy parts. I am a bit chubby so that is quite a bit, but I found if I tensed the muscles around the strip, I was working against the ‘pull’ so it came off quicker and easier without pulling my skin.

The treatment took less than ten minutes and by the end my back didn’t hurt, but felt a little sore and very warm. Luckily, the therapist rubbed my back with some soothing lotion.

The more I go now, the easier it becomes and the hair seems to grow back finer.

I don’t have a bath for a day or so after having my back waxed as the pores are open and it gets sore. I also find a get spots on my back for a couple of days but the difference it makes to the smoothness of my back is brilliant and has kept me going back. I only have to go once every 2-3 months so it’s not like a really difficult thing to do and my wife loves it.

My Top Tips of Having Your Back Waxed Men.

  1. Expect it to hurt a little (especially the first time). Take some pain killers half an hour before you go - this dulls the pain right down.
  2. Don’t have a bath for 24 hours afterwards, especially a roasting hot one. It irritates your back.
  3. I use Australian Bodycare Skinwash and then Body Lotion for a few days afterwards as well to cleanse my back of spots and smooth the skin.
  4. Try to act very manly when you are having it done. Don’t want to let the side down!
