I recently received a little birthday gift from Truly Scrumptious Beauty (via email) of a 'money off' voucher so, rather than waste it, I decided to go for another back wax. I must be getting accustomed to this wax thing as it stung even less than before!
Thanks Truly Scrumptious Beauty team.

PS Still not brave enough for the chest wax :-)

"Why don't you get your back waxed?" Those are words I never expected to hear as I didn't consider my back to be particularly hairy, just a few hairs here and there but definitely not a carpet or even a thread-bare carpet.

So there I was planning a holiday with a girl friend and was surprised with this back wax request. No mention of back hair had ever been made before. My only experience of a beauty salon was when my sister-in-law bought me a men's face treatment which I must say was very relaxing.

Although I did flinch at the idea I put on a brave face and decided that I would give it a go ... it's worth trying once, I tried to tell myself. I was all ready taking a few sunbed sessions in order to prepare my skin for the harsh August sun of Gran Canaria, so I mentioned the possibility of a back wax to Claire who booked me in for an appointment a few days before holiday departure.
The big day arrived and I was a little nervous probably because I unsure what to expect. Well I had been teased by my friends saying that it can be really painful. Anyway, when I arrived the shop was empty of customers and Donna politely escorted me into a treatment room. There was a distinctly relaxed atmosphere. As the treatment was explained to me I became more relaxed ... and so, on with the treatment.

To put it simply, I was shocked by how little pain there was during the treatment. I felt like a slight sting, probably from the fine short hairs being pulled out. I am not sure if it showed but I was in shock at how pain-free the whole treatment was, which I attribute to being not particularly hairy.

Wow, my back felt so smooooooth and squeaky clean, and my girl friend loved it. Not that I want to make it a regular event but I would have far less hesitation in having a back wax again.

The holiday finished with a surprise request which I should really have seen coming … "Why don't you get your CHEST waxed?" Now, in my books, that is taking things a bit too far especially as my chest is more hairy than my back. When will these requests stop!?
