No Wonder Our View On Beauty Is Distorted?

Dove

I found this cool video for Dove about how our perception of beauty is not always as it seems for Dove’s Self Esteem Programme.

Or, perhaps this video actually gives hope to us all!

The Terrible Tale of Tit Tape

Tittape
I am not one for showing much skin, but on New Years Eve I thought I
would wear a slightly revealing dress. So rather than me having a few
too many, falling over and showing the whole hotel my goods, I thought
I would use this fantastic tit tape that all the celebrities are using.

It was great, I felt really secure and didn’t have any hang ups about my dress falling open and I really enjoyed my night.

BUT
after getting very squiffy and stumbling to my room on hubbies arm I
forgot to take my bra off which had tit tape on too.

Now, you would
think this isn’t a problem but when I woke up in the morning and took
my bra off to take a shower I screamed in pain. I have Blisters and
peeled skin on the bosom and they are a little sore.

So be
careful, it is strong stuff! It’s like not taking your make up off
before you go to bed: If you don’t do it you will regret it in the
morning!

If you want to try some tit tape (known more commonly as lingerie tape), you can buy it at Uplifted Lingerie.

Redheads Have More Sex

Redhead

Apparently girls, we need to get the hair dye out and go red if we want more sex!

That’s according to the Daily Mail Website.

Professor Dr Werner Habermehl
looked at the sex lives of hundreds of German women and compared them
with their hair colour:

“The sex lives of women with red hair were clearly
more active than those with other hair colour, with more partners and
having sex more often than the average. The research shows that the
fiery redhead certainly lives up to her reputation.”

Psychologist Christine Baumanns said however that it may not be
the women who were to blame for the better sex lives of redheads.

“Red stands for passion and when a man sees a redhead
he will think he is dealing with a woman who won’t mess around, and
gets straight to the point when it comes to sex.”

Those Summer Ni-highhhhtss

From iVillage comes this guide for getting ready, looking fab, and feeling great for a summer night out:

Revitalise tired legs ready for a night out on the town by sprinkling a
few freshly chopped mint leaves into your bath - or place dried
peppermint into a tea infuser and let it hang under the tap as you run
your bath water. Aching muscles will feel rejuvenated and you’ll be
ready to hit the dance floor.

Cold chamomile tea added to warm bathwater (or simply drop in a couple of teabags - yes, really!) will help relax muscles and will delicately fragrance the skin.

If you don’t have time for a pampering bath, have in a footbath, which can be as refreshing. Ideally, the water should come up to mid-calf, and if you use cold water it can often be an instant reviver - many people claim it can cure headaches too! Add a few drops of lemon oil and/or peppermint oil and you’re feet will feel fresh, soft and full of life. Alternating between hot and cold footbaths is an excellent way to stimulate the circulation.

Buy a small plastic pump spray bottle (one that gives a fine mist) and fill with fizzy mineral water and add a couple of drops each of peppermint and neroli oil. Pop this into your handbag for an instant all-over refresher when you’re feeling the heat - it’s perfect for setting make up, or just for reviving tired limbs, as well as adding a flattering, dewy glow.

Safeguard your Complexion from The Sun

Sund

With Summer upon us and our skin taking a battering, Redorbit provides us with these great tips for looking after your skin this summer from Mary Berkery. And it’s not just outdoors that causes problems. A lot of us now work in air conditioned offices leaving our skin feeling dull and dry.

But according to Mary, a leading holistic beauty consultant, there are five easy steps to take to ensure your skin stays gorgeous and glowing during the summer months.

1. Hydrate your skin

Drink at least one litre of water each day but remember to drink between meals rather than during meals. Drinking water with your food dilutes the digestive juices, making it more difficult for your digestive system to function at its best level.

2. Oxygenate

Getting enough oxygen is crucial for crystal clear skin as it helps the dilation of the blood vessels, increasing blood flow and improving the condition of the skin.

Mary says there are lots of easy ways to increase your oxygen levels:

“Aerobic exercise, a brisk walk in the open air and even some deep, relaxation breathing will all help to oxygenate the skin.”

3. Alkalise the Diet

Alkalising the diet is one of the most important steps towards healthy, glowing skin.

“Acidic substances such as coffee, alcohol, sugar, red meat and cigarettes
upset the skin’s natural balance by stripping it of essential nutrients. Increase the alkaline content of your diet with foods like root vegetables and delicious green juices and don’t overdo the dairy products.”

4. Balance your skin by allowing access to the natural elements

We are all conscious of the dangers of UV rays and we’re encouraged to cover our skin. This is good advice and an SPF is important. But the skin also restores its own innate balance and harmony through some exposure to fresh air and to the sun.

5. Nurture your skin with natural ingredients

Mary says: “City skin benefits from regular treatments so it is a good idea to arrange a facial once a month. Choose
a skilled practitioner who understands the importance of natural
ingredients and effective, soothing techniques for city skin, allowing
you to truly relax into the experience.
