Sun tan lotion can soften or dissolve your acrylic nails or nail polish according to this article on Beauty Brains.
If you want to find out if your sun tan lotion of choice will ruin your nails, try this (from Beauty Brain):
Smear a little of your favourite nail polish on a piece of glass (you can use an empty nail polish bottle or even a old compact mirror. Then, take that with you when you’re shopping for a sunscreen. Squeeze a little of the sunscreen product onto your polish smear and see if it softens the film. That should be a pretty good indicator if it will be okay when you actually apply it with your manicured fingers.

One of my favourite new blogs - The Beauty Brain - has an great article about sunless tanning - why it works and is it good for you?
Sunless tanning, or as I like to call it - a fake tan - is a great way to get some quick colour without having to resort to lying in the sun or under a sun bed. I always apply one a couple of days before a party just to liven up my complexion.
Beauty Brain also tell you how sunless tanning works.
My fave fake tanning product range is St. Tropez as it gives a quick natural looking tan - not too much but just enough colour to see the difference, or more importantly, for other people to see the difference. One of their newer products is Everyday, which is a moisturiser that helps build and maintain a healthy looking tan but I haven’t tried it just yet.
But, remember, these products do only give you a fake tan. Your skin is no more resistant to actual sun, so always wear your sun tan lotion when out in the sun.

If you ever needed an example of how not to do fake tanning, look no further than Donald Trump.

From iVillage:
St Tropez tan
The white packaging is about all that is underwhelming about this product. It’s not cheap and so I was worried about how much a summer glow was going to cost. I was initially perplexed by the suggested
routine of exfoliation with the St Tropez exfoliator, followed by the moisturiser and the colour, but all doubts vanished after the first application. I simply mixed just a couple of ’squeezes’ of the brown
colour into the moisturiser and started to apply. I was pleasantly surprised by how far it went when mixed. Any worries I had about the deep brown colour disappeared and, as it has a slight tint, I
immediately saw a noticeable difference. I was also pleased that there was no ‘before and after’ effect, but rather a gradual colour development which lasted. It gives a lovely natural glow (the sort that
people comment on) without the hint of an orange tinge, and no streaks.
Star rating: 5/5
iVillage Verdict: Expensive, but well worth it.
