I had an e-mail from Kimberley at Celador today looking for people for a new show in the UK…
Are you a lady of luxury?
A new BBC2 series needs people with a real passion for their luxuries, who are confident about who they are and why they love them.
Maybe you don’t care how much time or money you spend on your luxury. Maybe it’s your only vice. Maybe it’s essential for your work or life in general.
If this is you, and youâre up for going on the trip of a lifetime⌠call Kimberley at Celador on 020 7153 6139 or email Kimblerley here.
Apparently, we still don’t see taking precautions against the sun as a real priority according to this survey, reported on Cosmetics Design:
Ultimately the survey results appear to
indicate that awareness of preventing skin damage is still overshadowed
by the desire to find treatments for skin damage.
Cancer Research advises us to be SMART when it comes to suncare.
We all love to look fabulous, don’t we, and sometimes maybe some of the newest products are a little out of our reach in terms of price. Perhaps we should take a leaf out of a little black book of beauty secrets that highlight some of the beauty tricks ofcelebrities:
Halle Berry uses coffee for her smooth, cellulite-free thighs.
"You just mix coffee
grinds with a little bit of body wash and rub it on your thigh area to
minimize the look of cellulite," says Kym Douglas the co-author of The
Black Book of Hollywood’s Beauty Secrets.
Cindy Crawford keeps
her face moist with a mixture of milk and water.
"She also uses a
combination of olive oil and coffee grinds to help make she skin glow
and pop"
Julia Roberts lathers olive oil on her fingernails to get them looking
smooth.
"It just adds that extra shiny coat like you’ve done a clear
gloss while also conditioning the cuticles."
Angelina
Jolie’s pout is another beauty trend that many women try and emulate. But Kym points out that you can use cinnamon oil
instead.
"Cinnamon oil makes the lips tingle a little bit and it
encourages blood flow which gives you a natural plumpness," says
Douglas.
Catherine Zeta Jones puts crushed up strawberries on
her teeth to make them white.
"The anti-oxidants and the acid in the strawberries make
your teeth look really white," says Douglas.
Down the supermarket then ladies!!

Kate Beckinsale stands up to be counted against "Hollywood Beauty" commenting that the ideal look in Hollywood is completely different than anywhere else in the world.
âI
donât think you can aspire to it, nor can I,â she told Glamour
magazine. âEverybody is
retouched, stretched, lengthened, slimmed and trimmed. I could look at
a picture of myself from the past and think, âWhy donât I look like
that now?â Itâs because I never have!â
More from MSNBC.
Couple of weeks ago I mentioned about the Dove advert - it is amazing and well worth a look. Kind of puts the Kate Point of View into perspective.
That said, gives hope to us all eh?
Apparently, men are three times more likely to develop certain types of skin cancer:
Researchers state that where female skin possesses a higher level of
antioxidants in their skin, while male skin does not, turning male skin
more susceptible to skin cancer or skin damage - Ref. Skincare Blog
Add that to the macho attitude and it’s a recipe for disaster.
Looks like I will be bullying encouraging my fella to slap on the Ambre Solaire a little bit more this year!
Scientists researching into skin cancer have stumbled on an explanation as to why hair follicles turn gray, reports Cosmetic Design Europe.
Sorry though, there is no soon-to-be-found miracle cure though. The discovery was made as scientists
were researching the origins of malignant melanoma, which can lead to skin cancer.
The
scientific team said that its research showed that the loss of
melanocytes not only leads to a graying of the hair, but also causes
diminishes hues that give the hair shaft a shiny, healthier and more
youthful looking appearance.
A haircare giant may pick up on the research though? I can imagine there would be quite a bit of a market place for products that kept your hairs colour and shine. I know I’d be queuing up!
